I thought this was a line from the Black Keys song (The Only One). Turns out I heard and remembered it slightly wrong (it goes, "Mystery is what this is to me"). I like my version better though. MORE ROMANTIC.
stuff was deep. true.

I finished the Wire. I can now get back to my life.
This image does not totally give an accurate depiction of the show, but it's one of my most favorite moments and one of my favorite character's (Wee Bey) best moments and showed the depth of his personality in a couple of brief minutes.
What made this show so good to me, and this is so noticeable after watching tons of shitty tv, is that it doesn't compromise. When the characters start to go on good paths or seem like they are going to have happy endings, they are rarely given that happy ending. When you don't want someone to die, they do, when you don't want someone to become an addict, they do, and it's not to mess with you or anything, but it's not creating all these magically fixed endings that are seen in nearly all television shows. The show recognized that they had an opportunity to show life (although dramatized and somewhat fictional), and they showed it in the most modest, unabashed, and honest way.
So, so good.
