Hi:
On a couple of whims, I bought a few herb plants: basil, rosemary, and mint. I had always wanted to grow my own herbs, it always irked me when I would spend a dollar on basil and never finish it all. What a ripoff! I never knew how satisfying it would be to have your own plants.  They were always kind of a whatever thing to me, getting nothing more than a glance or a passing thought. But jeeze, I get happy from just LOOKING at them. I LOVE THESE PLANTS. A friend was telling me how plants were like pets to her and she loved them so much and I was like, yes, plants, nice, next subject. But I completely understand where she is coming from, smelling them, seeing little buds grow, the burst of green, it's all too much.

I am so proud of this pie! (Recipe here) The meringue!

Then on Monday, hiked the Chief with a bunch of pals:

I was so nervous about going up this big ol' mountain. I had done the Grouse Grind last year and had gone into it with little expectations, if anything, to do fine, but oh my god that mountain kicked my ass and I felt like my mind and limits were truly tested that day. I was told that the Chief was somewhat the same in difficulty level as the Grouse Grind, if not harder, and that...was really discomforting. But I am like, man, just do it, what are you going to do anyways on a Monday other than stare at a computer for the entire day, this is a better use of your time and body.

And it was a good thing I did. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, and hanging out on the top of a mountain is cool.

Then we went to the beach:

(contrary to what you may think from looking at this picture, the water was really cold)

(contrary to the slight grimace on Tom's face, the beach was really nice.)

I am off to Calgary tomorrow for 6 days, and I am very excited. Thanks for seeing me off on a good note Vancouver.
Talk soon.

The other day Jane taught Andy an easy dish to make for himself and I got to sit and watch and eat the result.

Andy's chopping skills!

The resulting meal: Stir fry noodles. Was delicious. Good job Jane for teaching Andy well and thanks Andy for feeding me.

In other news, this film that's coming out by Christopher Nolan looks like it's going to absolutely kill:

I've watched it like three times, admittedly because I couldn't really get a grasp of what was going on plot wise, the images were so consuming that it was hard to concentrate on the story. And Joseph Gordon Levitt is in this! AHHh. What a babe. It's been so long since I've been truly excited to see a movie, really looking forward to it.

I have to say, I've been thinking about it more and more and these are my top films as of right now and probably forever:

-Forrest Gump
-The Dark Knight
-Jerry Maguire

OKAYOKAY.

First off, all of these movies, I can watch over and over again, I love when they pop up on TV or on an airplane or wherever.

Every time I watch Forrest Gump I cry so hard. It is so sad to me, that this man loves this woman his entire life, does anything and everything for her, and she doesn't realize she loves him until way too late, and by the time she does, she's gone soon after. I also just love the times when the movie is set in, from the 50's on until like the 90's and there are just so many great pop culture references and such great play with them.

The Dark Knight. This movie feels so epic to me! The joker was so great, so many great scenes in this movie, the music adds such great atomsphere as well.

Jerry Maguire. Okay I've explained why I've liked this movie before, it just has so many lines that just hit you and stay with you.

Hell yeah.

Hi. It's been awhile. Things have been happening, things like this:

Who knew. A job! At Adbusters! As an 'art assistant'. I am really enjoying it so far, for many reasons, that the people are surprisingly normal, funny, really easy to get along with, that I get to do some pretty interesting things and that it's only a 10 minute walk from my apartment (hello home lunches, one of the best parts of junior high all over again).
It was kind of funny, this was the only good picture of the night, the other ones, it seemed no matter how much I tried (and from what I remember, Andy tried to take pictures as well), I ended up with pictures of Alex's torso.
This night was crazy. A party under the bridge by Home Depot near Main and Terminal. At first it was like, "What is this and what am I doing here." they were playing some strange rave noise music, and then they changed up the music and it just became awesome. And there were so many people there! So many different kinds of people! Including an underage kid who lives in my building (and I booted for one time) who seemed absolutely stoned out of his mind, like so many other people at this party.

Hope it's been awesome for you as well.
